The incident occurred on October 22, after 11:00 a.m. The duty officer at the Lubin police station received a report that an Opel was driving along the Miłoradzice–Raszowa road, and that its driver was probably under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle was reportedly moving from one edge of the road to the other.
A traffic police patrol immediately went to the scene. When the officers arrived, they saw the vehicle described by the witness. It was parked near an intersection. Inside, the officers found two “sleeping” men. There was a distinct smell of alcohol coming from the driver. However, he pretended to be asleep and acted as though he had no idea what was going on.
The witness told the officers that this very “sleeper,” a 60-year-old resident of Lubin municipality, had been driving the Opel.
As it turned out, the 60-year-old was completely drunk; he had more than 2.8‰ of alcohol in his system. He could now face up to two years in prison.
