When welcoming guests at the convention, Piotr Roman first of all thanked his wife for her support and for— as he put it—bravely putting up with his presidency. In a conversation before the convention, Mrs. Barbara spoke warmly about her husband’s efforts.
“He is responsible and task-oriented; he tries to do his job as well as possible. I simply take care of him, and during this particularly busy and stressful time I just stand on the sidelines, I am simply there,” Barbara Roman said about her support.
The idea of Piotr Roman’s KWW for Bolesławiec is interesting and very resident-friendly. It stems from many years of experience and practice, and sometimes from learning from one’s own mistakes. In brief, the program’s 31 points cover areas of regional life such as healthcare (the construction of a modern operating wing and the Clean Air for Bolesławiec program: connections to ZEC and programs subsidizing the replacement of coal-fired stoves), broadly understood infrastructure (a new bridge and roundabouts on Zgorzelecka Street, a Transport Hub at the railway station, and parking lots in the city), new jobs for the region (12 investors have so far been secured, creating 4,000 jobs), as well as developing
“This is a joint plan for the city and the county,” Piotr Roman emphasized. “And it is being created jointly by the city, county, and voivodeship, as well as from the grassroots: by associations, allotment gardens, and all residents who want to participate in Bolesławiec’s transformation. Others also have programs. They may be better or worse, but only we know how to implement these programs,” Piotr Roman added at the end of his presentation.
Tomasz Gabrysiak presented the KWW Nonpartisan Local Government Representatives’ program in a practical way. The priority is the hospital (construction of the operating wing has already begun), transportation and road repairs, as well as education at the highest possible level. We know that education is the foundation of Bolesławiec County, and this policy is being pursued very consistently and successfully. Young county residents finish school with the best results, and all good institutions of higher education are accessible to them. A new point in the program presented by Gabrysiak is the construction of a care and treatment facility for chronically ill people.
