The tragedy occurred on Monday, October 8, in the morning, on the A4 motorway. At around 9:40 a.m., the Złotoryja police received information about a pile-up at the 69th kilometre of the motorway.
However, officers established that three separate road incidents had occurred on the route between the Chojnów and Jadwisin interchanges. A total of seven lorries, a van and a Peugeot passenger car were involved.
The driver of the last vehicle, a 47-year-old woman, was killed instantly. The van driver was injured and taken to hospital. His life is not in danger. (The lorry drivers emerged from the entire incident unscathed.)
As the press officer of the Złotoryja County Police Headquarters told the istotne.pl service, it is too early to discuss the causes of the tragedy. The police and prosecutor’s office are investigating the case.
The motorway was not fully cleared until around 8:00 p.m.
