The second suspect fled the scene of the break-in so quickly that, while driving away, he “forgot” about his accomplice. Thanks to the swift response of officers from the criminal division of the Bogatynia police, the perpetrators were arrested and the stolen property recovered. One of those arrested also turned out to be a wanted person. The duty officer at the Police Station in Bogatynia was notified by a resident about a break-in involving a vehicle parked on one of the city’s streets. Officers from the Criminal Division of the Police Station in Bogatynia were immediately sent to the scene.
As a result of their actions, the officers noticed on one of the side streets a vehicle similar to the one used by the perpetrators. The car had no registration plates, and the stolen boxes of tools were inside.
Further actions by the criminal-division officers led to the identification and arrest of two residents of Zgorzelec County suspected of the break-in. One of them had a key to the vehicle containing the stolen items.
After checking the suspects in police databases, it turned out that the man who had been driving the car was subject to a court-imposed driving ban and was wanted to serve a 150-day prison sentence.
The men have already been questioned and charged, and they confessed to the offences. We remind you that breaking and entering and theft are punishable by up to 10 years in prison, while driving a vehicle despite a court-imposed ban is punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
