– “I would like something to start happening in the city. And I would like the way Łajba is perceived to change,” says istotne.pl Marcin Hrywniak, who has been running the pub by the municipal pond on Bankowa Street in Bolesławiec for two years.
The goal? Łajba is to stop being associated with a dive or a fish fry shop. According to M. Hrywniak, the City of Ceramics lacks places where people can listen to good live music. His pub is supposed to change that.
Concerts are already held there during the summer and autumn seasons, and admission is free. You can listen to good music completely free of charge (nobody pays for tickets), while also enjoying tasty burgers and delicious fries made from real potatoes.
And the residents of Bolesławiec are already appreciating it. “Friends are asking me more and more often whether there will be a concert at the weekend,” Marcin says with a smile. When Nocne Boogie performed at Łajba, the pub was packed.
There are to be more and more live performances, too. So far, mainly blues and jazz bands have played at Marcin’s club, because that is the music Łajba’s owner likes most. But the pub also intends to open up to other genres, such as rock. What is more, jam sessions are also to be held there.
“I want to awaken and energize this city,” Marcin says. “I am putting an enormous amount of heart and work into it. And my whole soul.”
Next summer, Łajba’s owner would like to host even better-known bands. The idea is that concerts at Łajba will continue to be free for the public. (That is also why the club plans to attract sponsors.)
It is worth emphasizing that there will also be a concert at Łajba this Friday, on the occasion of Polish Blues Day; more information: https://www.facebook.com/%C5%81ajba-938668526249015/.
