Wiadukt Plaza has attracted enormous interest since it opened—especially among young people. Their parents will probably be pleased to learn that a pedestrian crossing is now being built on the bypass, right next to the new skatepark.

This will certainly improve the safety of people using the new municipal facility.

Let us recall. In August, we reported that a reader had written to us: “There will be a skatepark. But where is the crossing for the kids? How are they supposed to get there safely? The nearest zebra crossing is at the intersection with Dolne Młyny Street.”

As Jerzy Zieliński, secretary of the Bolesławiec City Hall, told us at the time, there are several routes leading to Wiadukt Plaza. But there will also be a direct crossing, equipped with an actuated traffic signal. Its construction will be financed 100 percent by the Bolesławiec municipal government.

The official added then that it would take some time because the crossing was to be built on a national road, and obtaining all the approvals from the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways can be time-consuming.

Fortunately, however, it did not take quite that long. The crossing is expected to be ready by the end of next week.

We will return to this matter.
