The incident occurred on August 30 at one of the grocery discount stores in Jelenia Góra. The man stole 3 bottles of alcohol worth nearly PLN 140 in total.
A security guard noticed the theft and attempted to recover the alcohol. A struggle ensued, during which the 41-year-old managed to escape with the loot.
Police officers notified of the theft began searching for the man who had committed the offense. Based on the information gathered in the case and the CCTV footage secured, they identified the 41-year-old, a resident of Jelenia Góra.
The man was detained and then, at the prosecutor's request, the court ordered his temporary detention for two months.
The Jelenia Góra resident now faces up to 10 years in prison.
