As part of the cooperation between Polish and American artillerymen, on September 5 this year, a group of officers from the 23rd Artillery Regiment took part in training conducted at the OSPWL Żagań facilities by artillerymen from an M109A6 Paladin self-propelled howitzer battalion.
After becoming familiar with the course of the training and the tasks carried out by the American artillerymen, Battery Commander Captain Webber presented the operating procedures, as well as the equipment and tasks of the Fire Direction Center (FDC). The American soldiers also familiarized the Bolesławiec artillerymen with the reconnaissance and artillery equipment and communications means used by the self-propelled artillery battery.
At the firing positions, the crews of the M109A6 Paladin self-propelled howitzers presented their equipment and fire capabilities, which were observed while live ammunition fire missions were being carried out.
During the working meeting, comments and observations concerning joint artillery procedures and mission experience were exchanged. Summing up the meeting, 23pa Commander Colonel Grzegorz Potrzuski discussed the directions of future cooperation and training activities.
