Funding for the renovation comes from a grant under the “Senior+” Multiannual Programme for 2015–2020 and from the Bolesławiec city budget. The grant amounts to PLN 232,000, while PLN 113,000 comes from the city budget. The construction work is being carried out by Zakład Ogólnobudowlany “Rogalski” from Bolesławiec. The works will be completed in November this year.
After the modernization, seniors will have rooms on the lower level at their disposal. It is worth recalling that the new arrangement of the ground-floor space will create a “Senior+” Day Care Home with an enhanced standard of services.
Locating the Home on the ground floor will enable people who are ill or have disabilities to use its services. The “Senior+” Day Care Home will include a club room, kitchenette, dining room, cloakroom, rest room, nursing room, toilets and a rehabilitation room. The room will be equipped, among other things, with exercise bikes, a treadmill, and upper- and lower-limb trainers.
The building will also house a computer room and an occupational therapy room with storage for teaching materials. Access to the first floor will be facilitated by installing a stairlift for people with disabilities.
As part of the modernization, plans include developing a 250-square-metre terrace with access to a large recreational plot. Garden chairs and tables, a gazebo and outdoor gym equipment will be added to the garden area.
This year, the community of the Day Care Home in Bolesławiec celebrated the facility’s 30th anniversary. The Day Care Home is a daily support centre providing assistance to older and lonely people who require such help because of their age, illness or disability. It helps seniors maintain good psychophysical fitness, necessary for independent functioning for as long as possible—that is, remaining in their own homes and communities.
More than 70 people aged 60–98 use the facility every day. Its activities also aim to provide assistance in organizing everyday life for people of retirement age and those with limited physical ability.
The building on Staroszkolna Street is also home to the Polish Association of the Blind and the Bolesławiec Amazons Association. A branch of the Municipal Public Library is also located on the premises.
