On 11 August, at around 1:40 a.m., the duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica received information about a collision on the 86th kilometre of the A4 motorway heading towards Wrocław. It was established that the driver responsible for the collision cut off a truck with a Volkswagen and then fled the scene.
The truck driver immediately followed the Volkswagen driver and, after travelling for approximately 10 kilometres, pulled into a petrol station together with him.
When checking the car driver's documents, the officers who arrived at the scene detected a strong smell of alcohol coming from him. Indeed, the man had 3‰ of alcohol in his breath. He was also not carrying a driving licence.
The resident of Opole County will now answer for his actions before the court. He could face up to two years in prison.
