The victim reported the theft of his payment card to officers at the end of July. The man said it had disappeared under unexplained circumstances.
Criminal investigators established that the stolen card had been used to make various transactions, around 20 in total. The police reached the shops where it had been used and identified the suspects based on camera footage. They were residents of Bolesławiec, well known to the officers, aged 18 and 25.
Both were arrested on Monday, August 6. They each faced 13 charges.
What is more, the older man will go straight to prison because, as it turned out, he was wanted by the court—he has a sentence for burglary to serve. The teenager will also be held responsible for stealing a mobile phone worth PLN 3,000. (The crime took place several days ago in one of the catering establishments.)
Both perpetrators now face up to 10 years in prison.
