And here are the remaining reasons:
The Mountain Spirit comes to life
When a legend comes to life, the atmosphere becomes epic. Reading about a figure from Sudecki folktales is one thing; seeing it with your own eyes in picturesque surroundings, accompanied by amazing pyrotechnic effects, is quite another. The evening of July 13 will feature a spectacle unlike any before.
Wonders and treasures of nature
And they are truly breathtaking. Visitors will be able to see 28 exhibitions from around the world and a fair with 70 stalls—the cream of mineralogy, from Morocco to the USA and Ślęża. As you look around, questions crowd into your mind. How can a small stone cost a million dollars? How can such beautiful, complex forms simply arise on their own? How do the world’s minerals differ? Why does nature paint butterflies and stones with the same patterns?
Fun with science
Knowledge about what lies beneath the earth is presented here practically and entertainingly. Children’s mini-mines offer treasure hunts, with the chance to take one treasure home. There will be live mineral processing and trips along Lubań’s basalt trails. Workshops on using XRMF technology will explain mineral composition.
A mountain of attractions for children and families
What would a city celebration be without inflatable bounce houses, colorful fairs, cotton candy, grilled pork neck and regional delicacies? In addition to the usual festival attractions, SFM will offer a large amusement park and 40 stalls with local handicrafts and regional products. Pure festival joie de vivre guaranteed.
GEOSTREFA
Mysteries, underground sites and treasures—it is no wonder that geotourism is thriving and becoming increasingly popular. During SFM in Lubań, a fair will be held where the region’s most important geotourist attractions will present themselves at interactive stalls. Great fun on site and a holiday planned for later.
The jewelry shopping trip of a lifetime
Precious minerals—in other words, gemstones—are a wonder of nature, but above all they are unique, magnificent natural ornaments, always original and stylish. Forty jewelry stalls set up in Lubań’s market square will provide an excellent choice of types, colors and designs.
LAWA – LIVE MUSIC
After a day full of experiences, it is time to crown the day at Lubań’s amphitheater. Appropriately for a mineral festival, the amphitheater is located on the slope of a volcano. On July 13, Patrycja Markowska—the most distinctive alto in Poland—will take over the stage. The star of the second day, July 14, will be ENEJ, a band that combines folk melodies with rock. Before the headline concerts, live hits will warm up the audience, and Centrum Uśmiechu will perform for children.
It’s close by
Lubań’s location is a major advantage. Situated in the center of the Trójgranicze area, it will always be on the way, and there will always be something to see nearby. For example, Czocha Castle, Poland’s oldest tree, or the resort town of Świeradów-Zdrój, with its gondola railway to Stóg Izerski.
We invite you to Lubań for the Sudecki Mineral Festival, July 12–15. More information at: https://festiwalmineralow.pl
