The incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. in Tomaszów Bolesławiecki, at the intersection with the road toward Szczytnica. The 25-year-old van driver, a Ukrainian national, failed to yield and hit a 41-year-old cyclist. Bolesławiec firefighters arrived at the scene very quickly, as they were securing an entrance to national road 94 nearby, which was closed because of an oily stain on the roadway.
A helicopter from the Air Ambulance Service was called for the man who had been hit. Rescuers were to take the injured man to hospital. Unfortunately, during resuscitation, after the helicopter had already arrived, the man died.
