Primary School No. 3 of the Home Army prepared the artistic program and organized this year’s gala, hosted by Melania Balińska and Adrian Banyś.
“Talent is like a piece of noble but raw metal: only diligent work can shape it and give it great value.” These words by Stanisław Staszic reflect the spirit of this year’s “The Mayor Invites” gala, held on June 22 in the Forum cinema hall in Bolesławiec.
During the ceremony, exceptionally gifted students from Bolesławiec primary schools and lower-secondary schools who achieved success in academic competitions and sports events received commemorative fountain pens and “Talent of the Year 2018” certificates. The Bolesławiec Mayor’s Awards, which replace scholarships, were also presented. The winners were selected by a committee consisting of representatives of Bolesławiec schools.
In the 2017/2018 school year, the committee awarded 102 Bolesławiec Mayor’s Awards to students of schools for which the Bolesławiec Municipal Commune is the governing or funding body. Representatives of each school served on the committee verifying the award recipients. The achievements of students from Bolesławiec schools were considered in three categories:
- academic achievements
- artistic and subject-related achievements
- sports achievements.
Among the winners are students with achievements in more than one category.
The Mayor of Bolesławiec expressed his appreciation to teachers, parents and guardians and—above all—to the students who achieved outstanding success during the school year and were able to combine hard work with talent.
