Before the May session of the Bolesławiec County Council began, local government representatives and uniformed officers jointly honored the winners of the third edition of the Voivodeship Art Competition for Preschool Children, held under the slogan “112 Saves Lives”: Jessica Gołyga (Municipal Public Preschool No. 6 in Bolesławiec); Paulina Stupiec (MPP No. 6); Malwina Sondaj (MPP No. 4); Bartosz Wojewódka (Private “Smerfiki” Preschool) and Julia Puławska (MPP No. 4).
As we read on the website of the Bolesławiec County Headquarters of the State Fire Service:
The main aim of the competition is to spread knowledge of the 112 emergency number among preschool children. The priority is to teach children how important knowledge of the emergency number is in saving lives, protecting health and property, and safeguarding the environment. For people’s safety, it is important to regularly remind them of the rules for using 112 and to explain when and how it should be used.
The competition highlights the importance of learning the right responses in situations threatening life, health, property or the environment, as well as shaping appropriate behavior among children when sudden incidents occur. Observation shows that through children we also reach their parents and grandparents, thereby increasing the number of people able to use 112 appropriately—as a number that saves lives.
