In the letter addressed to the Lower Silesian Voivode, the head of Gmina Nowogrodziec wrote:

On behalf of the local community of Gmina and City of Nowogrodziec, I appeal for intervention assistance in the operations of the police officers of the Nowogrodziec Police Station.

Due to the growing concern and escalating tensions among residents, I believe that we are already dealing with a crisis situation or its consequences, which may be irreversible in their effects.

For several months, an organized criminal group has been robbing residents of our Gmina. Many of the residents are elderly people who are being robbed of their pensions, retirement benefits and valuables. Fear of the thieves is affecting their mental health […].

We appreciate and support the police’s committed efforts; however, given the limited personnel reserves and resources, they are not producing results at present. The local police certainly need support from criminal investigation units of other police divisions [...]. Residents are organizing neighborhood watches, which are exposed to all kinds of incidental risks. [...] Tensions are growing in relations with the police, along with a decline in the community’s trust.

In my opinion, the appeal deserves serious consideration and is not a complaint. The Nowogrodziec local government declares its full assistance within the scope of its powers.

What do you think? Will the voivode respond? We will return to this topic.
