Concerned drivers notified the Lubin police duty officer that one of the drivers travelling on the road between Polkowice and Lubin might be intoxicated. The man was driving in the middle of the road—and on a dual carriageway at that.
A police officer immediately sent a patrol from the prevention department to the scene. The irresponsible driver, a 38-year-old foreign national, was arrested. As it turned out, he was indeed completely drunk—his blood alcohol level was 3 promille.
Officers established that the driver was so happy about buying a new car that he decided to celebrate by drinking. The problem was that immediately after the celebration, he got behind the wheel and drove the new car home.
The foreign national could now face up to two years in prison.
