One of the items on the agenda of the March session of the Bolesławiec City Council was a report on public order and safety in 2017. It was presented to the councillors by Junior Inspector Ryszard Podbucki, deputy head of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec.
As it turns out, in 2017—compared with 2016—the number of thefts, burglaries and acts of vandalism decreased. The number of assaults increased, however; more people were also caught with drugs.
As the deputy chief of the Bolesławiec police emphasized, the number of drivers found to have been driving under the influence of alcohol also fell, thanks to the media “witch hunt.” Unfortunately, according to the officer, the balance simply shifted in another direction—from alcohol to drugs. This may change, as the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec will soon be equipped with additional drug-testing devices.
