Officers from Police Station I received information about the theft of a VW Golf, which took place in February in one of the housing estates in Jelenia Góra. It turned out that the owner knew nothing about the theft; he estimated the vehicle’s value at nearly PLN 1,000.

The district officers, together with detectives, identified a suspect in the case. He is a 35-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra. The man told the officers that he was planning a journey and, in order to avoid troublesome transfers, decided to steal the car in question.

However, as he was unable to start it, he called a tow truck and commissioned the Golf to be towed to another location.

There, he decided to dismantle the vehicle and sell it for parts. The officers caught him in the act.

The 35-year-old now faces up to 10 years in prison.
