Officers from the Prevention Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra detained a 23-year-old Ukrainian citizen suspected of driving while intoxicated. The incident occurred during the night of March 4–5 this year in Szklarska Poręba. On Franciszkańska Street, officers stopped a Mercedes for a roadside inspection.

Three men were traveling in the car, and all of them were under the influence of alcohol. The driver, a 23-year-old from Ukraine, was also intoxicated; he had nearly 1.5‰ of alcohol in his system.

The entire group explained that the 23-year-old had got behind the wheel because he was the most sober. The group simply wanted to drive to a petrol station to buy some things. The men did not expect to encounter the police at that hour.

The Ukrainian man now faces up to two years in prison.
