The court ordered the three-month pre-trial detention of a 20-year-old from Nowogrodziec municipality. The young man could face a sentence of up to 12 years in prison.

Let us recall. The incident occurred on Saturday, February 10, after 11:00 p.m., between Brzeźnik (Bolesławiec municipality) and Zabłocie (Nowogrodziec municipality). The driver of a BMW, a 20-year-old resident of Nowogrodziec municipality, was driving too fast, lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road and hit a tree.

The 15-year-old BMW passenger suffered the most serious injuries in the accident. The teenager, who had multiple fractures and internal injuries, was first taken to the hospital in Bolesławiec and then transported to Wrocław. The boy is fighting for his life.

A 17-year-old passenger, the brother of the seriously injured 15-year-old, was also taken to the Bolesławiec hospital with a spinal injury. Both injured passengers are residents of Lwówek County.

The person responsible for the accident suffered the least serious injuries. He was taken to a hospital in Legnica.

The 20-year-old was drunk, with nearly one per mille of alcohol in his system. (He was probably also under the influence of drugs.) What is more, he took without permission a car belonging to the brother of the two injured passengers.

Earlier, the police reported that the offender did not have a driving licence. It turned out that he did have one, but it was German. The 20-year-old did not inform the officers of this..
