Two district commanders of the State Fire Service in the region—those in Zgorzelec and Bolesławiec—retired at the end of January. Senior Brigadier Grzegorz Kocon, head of the Bolesławiec State Fire Service, handed over his duties at the Old Theatre to his successor, Junior Brigadier Andrzej Śliwowski.

In Zgorzelec, the handover of duties took place at the local District Headquarters of the State Fire Service. Brigadier Wiesław Wypych—in the presence of the provincial commander, Senior Brigadier Adam Konieczny, and his deputy, Senior Brigadier Marek Kamiński—handed command of the headquarters to Senior Captain Artur Czułajewski.

Commander W. Wypych had led the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Zgorzelec since 2010 (he served in the fire service for 42 years).

The Węgliniec municipality was represented at the ceremony by Mayor Stanisław Mikołajczyk, Municipal Council Chairman Waldemar Błauciak (president of the Board of the Municipal Branch of ZOSP RP), as well as delegations from volunteer fire service units, including the color guard of the Board of the Municipal Branch and the Węgliniec Volunteer Fire Service. “We hope that cooperation with the new district commanders of the State Fire Service will contribute to the development and improvement of fire safety in our municipality,” the firefighters said.
