The duty officer at the Zgorzelec police headquarters received a telephone report about a suspicious-looking man who was probably planning to break into one of the stores. A preventive patrol was immediately sent to the scene. Upon arrival, the officers noticed a man who started running when he saw them. The police gave chase and arrested a 32-year-old resident of Zgorzelec. The suspect was taken to the police headquarters.
After checking the databases, it turned out that he was wanted in order to establish his place of residence and bring him before the prosecutor's office. The 32-year-old was also suspected of other burglaries and attempted burglaries of service establishments in Zgorzelec. His loot mainly consisted of money, cigarettes and food products. On the basis of the evidence gathered, the man was charged with a total of six offences, to which he confessed.
He will now face trial for his actions; the court ordered pre-trial detention as a preventive measure. The offence of burglary is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
