I would like to ask for intervention at the Biedronka store on Komuny Paryskiej Street in Bolesławiec. [...] they sell expired food. Today [December 22 – editor’s note: istotne.pl] I bought Ptasie Mleczko that is 2 months past its expiry date and is not fit for consumption.
The man added that this was not the first such case. Here is a comment from the press office of Jeronimo Martins Polska S.A.:
The presence in the sales area of a product past its minimum durability date, as occurred in the case described, is contrary to the procedures in force across the Biedronka chain. Under these procedures, our employees are required to check the dates on packaging and remove from sale products whose expiry date is approaching.
However, if an expired product is sold, the customer has the right to receive a refund or exchange the product for one of full value. That is what happened in this particular case—the deputy store manager exchanged the goods for the customer and apologized for the situation. They also checked the remaining products available in the sales area. In addition, we reminded the employees of this store that product expiry dates must be checked more frequently so that our customers can shop in complete comfort.
We will add that, considering the contents of the receipt, it is a good thing that it was Ptasie Mleczko that turned out to be expired after all ;).
