Officers from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra, while driving along Różyńskiego Street, noticed a man standing behind the safety railing of a bridge. The desperate man wanted to jump into the water. The police officers immediately got out of their patrol car and grabbed the would-be suicide victim.

The frustrated man turned out to be a 42-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra. He told the officers that he was homeless and had no one to live for.

The desperate man was drunk. He had nearly 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his system. What is more, it came to light that he was wanted by the court because he had to serve a prison sentence for failing to pay a fine.

The man was first taken into police custody and then placed under doctors’ care.
