Officers from the Zgorzelec traffic police received a report that the driver of a passenger car had veered off the road in Jędrzychowice and ended up in a roadside ditch. At the scene, the officers found a 58-year-old resident of Zgorzelec, who smelled strongly of alcohol. The man was completely drunk—he had nearly 3.5 parts per thousand of alcohol in his breath.
What is more, it emerged that the 58-year-old had a lifetime driving ban because... he had already been convicted of driving while intoxicated.
The Zgorzelec resident now faces up to five years in prison.
