The incident occurred on Kolbego Street in Legnica at around 10:00. An officer from the Municipal Police Headquarters who was off duty noticed a man on one of the buildings stealing copper roofing. The officer apprehended the suspect and informed the Legnica police duty officer, who sent a patrol from the Prevention Division to the scene.
It turned out that the 23-year-old suspect had entered the building by forcing open a window. From the rooms off the staircase, the man stole copper electrical cables. He then climbed onto a balcony and from there made his way onto a small roof, where he stole copper roofing, flashing and gutters. The losses were estimated at PLN 800.
The 23-year-old now faces up to 10 years in prison.
