The concert, which will take place on Saturday, December 16 at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław, consists exclusively of compositions by Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz – one of Poland’s best-known film and popular-music composers and co-founder of the legendary group Anawa, led by Marek Grechuta. He composed many well-known songs from the repertoires of Grzegorz Turnau, Andrzej Zaucha and the aforementioned Marek Grechuta. He also created large-scale musical works, including “Beggar’s Opera,” the oratorio “Ludźmierz Vespers,” the symphonic poem “Papusza’s Harps” and the musical “Crazy Locomotive.”

Music of Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz features new arrangements of the composer’s works, written especially for this concert by Michał Jurkiewicz, allowing audiences to discover another dimension of the artist’s music and its timelessness. The works performed will include compositions from the repertoires of Andrzej Zaucha, Marek Grechuta and Anawa, as well as Piwnica pod Baranami, including such well-known songs as “Entangled in Wild Grapevines,” “Tightrope Walker,” “Don’t Interrupt the Fun,” “Don’t Show Off,” “Hey, a Glass of Beer” and “Days We Do Not Know.” The program will also include film and theater music.

The concert will feature: Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz, Beata Rybotycka, Andrzej Sikorowski, Sebastian Karpiel-Bułecka, Grzegorz Turnau, Jacek Wójcicki, Maciej Lipina, Aleksandra Pieczara and a twelve-member musical ensemble led by arranger and multi-instrumentalist Michał Jurkiewicz.
