Police officers patrolling the area of Chojnów received information about a break-in at a garden allotment house in the city. There were reportedly two perpetrators, who were said to have left the scene in a VW Golf.
Officers quickly located the vehicle in question. There were two men inside. One of them turned out to be the perpetrator of the break-in. (The criminal’s accomplice was caught by police elsewhere).
Officers arrested both perpetrators, aged 16 and 18. It turned out that the older one had also committed two break-ins at detached houses. His loot included power tools, gardening equipment, a gas boiler, money and watches. The losses caused by the young man were estimated at more than PLN 14,000.
The 18-year-old, who admitted to the crime, was temporarily detained for three months. He faces up to 10 years in prison. The younger burglar’s case will be handled by the family court.
