The incident took place in Bogatynia. One of the town’s residents noticed a masked man entering his neighbour’s apartment through a window. He immediately notified the police.
Police officers and municipal guards immediately went to the scene. When he saw the uniformed officers, the thief tried to escape through the window. He was detained after a brief chase. He is a 26-year-old resident of Bogatynia who was wanted because he still had prison sentences to serve for other offences.
The police recovered stolen property—household appliances, jewellery and documents—worth PLN 5,000. The 26-year-old repeat offender faces up to ten years in prison.
