On Saturday, the 8th Open Bolesławiec Championships were summarized. The ceremony took place in the Forum cinema auditorium. It was hosted by the directors of the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre. The audience included athletes who took part in this year's championships, their loved ones and the city authorities. The winners in the individual categories received certificates, commemorative badges and material prizes. The awards were presented by representatives of the city authorities. The event ended with a performance by the group Obstawa Prezydenta.
Winners of the 2008 OMB
The Bolesławiec champions in boules were the “Bracia B” team: Marek Baran, Patryk Baran and Krzysztof Baran. In street basketball, the “Ed, Edd, Eddie” team—Angela Kijowska, Kaja Potocka and Diana Kornatowicz—took first place in the women's category. “Chikita” won the Open category, with Daniel Czernia, Paweł Wilas, Tomasz Szewczyk and Michał Łuczkowski on the team.
The champions in darts (in their respective age categories) were Michał Stępień, Patryk Kędziora, Karolina Koczoń and Marcin Warężak. In athletics, the Bolesławiec titles were won by Paula Kowalik, Katarzyna Jankowska, Magdalena Jurasik and Wojciech Kowalski. In swimming, the top places went to Klaudia Petters, Marcelina Zwierzańska, Katarzyna Duran, Vanessa Piotrowska, Żaklina Bukowiec, Marta Satoła, Dorota Bernat and Ewa Cygan. Among the men, the best swimmers of 2008 were Michał Stępień, Rafał Wójtowicz, Jakub Libner, Radosław Chlebowicz, Jarosław Sudół, Piotr Jeka and Henryk Kopaniecki.
Artur Winkler became the Bolesławiec champion in bridge. In the bench press, the winners were Bartłomiej Cierlik, Piotr Nowak, Bogusław Mienculewicz and Andrzej Lisowski. In beach volleyball, the “Banda Łysego” team—Paweł Wiatrowski and Roman Kaczurowski—won the Cadets category. In the women's category, the “Słońce Pustyni” team, consisting of Dominika Mienculewicz and Anna Prytycka, took first place. The men's championship was won by “TOP”, consisting of Kamil Biczak and Marcin Czarniecki. The Bolesławiec champions in chess were Katarzyna Bańbura, Elwira Kupisz, Bartosz Pachom, Paweł Wodas and Zbigniew Humenny.
In table tennis, the Bolesławiec champions were Monika Kowal, Monika Manowiec, Jakub Kozieł, Mirosław Jaślan, Mateusz Kowal and Remigiusz Kasperczyk. In tennis, the titles were won by Krystyna Szwajkowska, Tomasz Ziembikiewicz, Bartosz Stos and Bartosz Kasprzyk.
A total of 920 competitors took part in the 2008 Open Bolesławiec Championships. Altogether, 69 tournaments were held. In addition to residents of Bolesławiec, competitors from other Polish cities and representatives of the Czech Republic and Germany also took part.
