The arrest took place overnight from September 18 to 19. Police received information about the theft of a set of wheels worth PLN 1,000 from a BMW vehicle. The crime took place in Stara Kamienica. The victim noticed the Mazda driven by the thief.
The duty officer notified all patrols. Officers spotted the vehicle in Płoszczyna. They signaled the driver to stop. However, he did not respond. He fled toward Dziwiszów. At one point, he stopped the car and began fleeing on foot.
He was arrested after a short chase. The 26-year-old man from Jelenia Góra was highly agitated. He admitted that he had driven under the influence of amphetamine. His blood was therefore taken for testing.
What is more, officers established that the arrested man had a series of property crimes on his record, committed in Jelenia Góra and the surrounding area from July to September. (These included burglaries involving cars, garages and cellars).
The 26-year-old could face up to 10 years in prison.
