The incident occurred on September 17 in Mysłakowice. The victim lost her bank card while walking along the street, and it was found by a 20-year-old man. He decided to use the found item: he made several contactless payments for purchases in Jelenia Góra and the surrounding area. The owner estimated her losses at several hundred zlotys.
When the victim realized that someone was using her card, she blocked it and notified the police.
The 20-year-old was caught shortly afterward when he tried to pay with the card at a gas station. An employee detained him and reported suspicions that the card was being used by an unauthorized person. The suspect was arrested and taken into police custody. He now faces up to 10 years in prison.
