The arrest took place on 7 September in one of the houses in the Ścinawa municipality (Lubin County). Officers established that large quantities of illegal tobacco might be stored in one of the garages in the municipality.
The officers’ suspicions were confirmed. They seized 1,200 kilograms of tobacco without Polish excise-duty markings, as well as a device used to cut it.
The 27-year-old man was detained and taken to police custody. The police are determining, among other things, where the suspect obtained such a large quantity of illegal goods and whether he was involved in distributing them.
The losses to the State Treasury were estimated at more than half a million zlotys. The resident of the Ścinawa municipality could face up to three years in prison.
