The incident took place in one of the shops in Zgorzelec. The 57-year-old man wanted to pay for alcohol. However, the shop assistant became suspicious about the authenticity of the 100-zloty banknote; she immediately called the officers. It turned out that the banknote the 57-year-old wanted to use was counterfeit.
The man was detained and taken to police custody. Moreover, at the request of the police and the prosecutor’s office, the 57-year-old was remanded in custody for three months. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
