The incident took place on August 7 in Jelenia Góra. The victim, occupied with other matters, left his backpack unattended for a moment. The 33-year-old, who was walking past, decided to take advantage of the opportunity and stole the backpack containing a payment card, money, documents and other small items. The owner estimated the value of the stolen property at several hundred zlotys.
Police identified and then arrested a 33-year-old man suspected of the theft. The Jelenia Góra resident admitted to the crime. (Police are determining what the detainee did with property that did not belong to him.)
The 33-year-old faces up to five years in prison.
