In an email to the editorial office, a Reader wrote:

Since around the beginning of May, the goals on this pitch have been in terrible condition. One of them is not attached to the ground at all, but is resting against the mounting base of the basketball hoop. The goals were installed here in 2013, and their current condition is not the result of vandalism, but simply of the intensive games played on the pitch and material fatigue—especially since these are goals mounted to the ground rather than dug into it.

At present, this poses a certain danger, because if a goal fell over and struck someone directly in the head, it could cause serious injury (and such cases have already occurred in Poland). This problem has existed for a long time and everyone can see it (the pitch is located by the main road). I am surprised that nobody has dealt with the problem and that no one has carried out an inspection of the facility and its condition here from time to time.

“The village head has already fixed it,” the director of the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury i Sportu in Bolesławiec, Janusz Cieśla, tells us. “It was vandalism, not material wear,” he clarifies.

He adds: “The net will also be replaced. Everything will be fine. We are keeping an eye on it and staying on top of things. We do not want a tragedy like the one that took place in Jelenia Góra to occur.”

This is what the goal looked like before the Reader’s intervention and the intervention of the istotne.pl service:
