The incident took place on Wednesday, 23 August. At around 12:00, the Bolesławiec Municipal Police duty officer received a report of a large dog running in the very centre of the city (Rynek Street), without supervision or care.
A Municipal Police patrol was immediately sent to the scene. The animal was no longer at the specified location. However, the person who reported the incident was there and stated that the dog had jumped at him. (Fortunately, the man suffered no injuries).
The injured man gave a detailed description of the animal that had attacked him. A moment later, a woman approached the patrol; her pet had also been attacked, most probably by the same dog. A scuffle ensued, causing a small child to fall out of a stroller. Fortunately, the child was unharmed. Nevertheless, the mother asked the officers to help her get to a nearby health clinic, as she feared another attack by the aggressive animal. The patrol escorted the frightened woman.
The officers then received information from the duty officer that a dog matching the description had been tied up near a stationery shop on Rynek Street. The animal had a microchip, but it was not listed in the Bolesławiec Municipal Police database. The dog was taken to a veterinarian.
Municipal Police officers identified the owner of the aggressive animal. The man was issued a fine.
