On August 23, at around 6:30 p.m., police officers stopped a Mercedes vehicle for a roadside inspection in Jelenia Góra. The driver turned out to be a 36-year-old resident of Złotoryja County. On the car’s back seat and in the trunk, officers found five bags containing nearly 100 kg of tobacco without Polish excise duty markings.
Initially, the losses that the State Treasury could have incurred were estimated at nearly PLN 80,000. Police officers are currently investigating the circumstances of the case in detail, including where the seized goods came from and who they were intended for.
The man will face the court for his actions.
