During the summer, we can very often meet people who enjoy spending time by the water. Concerned for their safety, Zgorzelec police officers not only inspect bathing areas but also promote water-safety issues.
At the beginning of the holiday season, officers began inspecting supervised and unsupervised bathing areas, as well as bodies of water where swimming is strictly prohibited. Police officers talk with WOPR lifeguards, promote water safety, distribute prevention materials and hold educational talks, appealing for caution and prudence when using all types of bathing areas.
Police officers also tell children at day camps how to spend their holidays safely. Each time, the children receive reflective items and materials devoted to safety from the officers.
All these activities are carried out as part of the nationwide “Safety on the Water Matters to Me…” and “Safe Holidays” campaigns. Their aim is to draw attention to the dangers that reckless use of bathing areas may entail and to reduce the number of accidents on the water.
