Officers from the Traffic Division of the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters, as a result of their operations, prevented intoxicated drivers from continuing their journey, which ran, among other places, along motorways in Bolesławiec County.
One of the drivers was stopped for inspection by a traffic patrol just before entering the A18 motorway. A sobriety test of the 43-year-old resident of Osiecznica commune showed more than 0.7 per mille of alcohol in his system. The driver had only just set out on his journey, so the police officers’ vigilance prevented the intoxicated driver from continuing to drive.
Earlier, Bolesławiec traffic police officers noticed a truck carrying a dangerous cargo leaving the A4 motorway and entering the A18 motorway. During the inspection, it turned out that the tanker driver had consumed alcohol. The resident of Lublin Voivodeship had nearly 0.5 per mille of alcohol in his system. The 37-year-old was driving a tanker that was carrying gas.
Driving a vehicle while intoxicated is punishable by up to 2 years’ imprisonment, a driving ban of up to 15 years, and a substantial fine. Meanwhile, a driver who has consumed alcohol may lose their driving licence for between 6 months and 3 years and will also be fined.
