The incident occurred in Spalona (Legnica County). Traffic police officers decided to stop the quad bike rider for a check. The young man, seeing the police car and the signals given by the officers, accelerated sharply. The officers began a pursuit.

A moment later, the teenager turned sharply onto a side road, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and hit a roadside tree.

The 16-year-old resident of Prochowice municipality was detained. He did not have a licence to drive vehicles. He took the quad bike while his parents were absent.

Under the new regulations, failing to stop for a roadside check is a crime punishable by up to five years in prison. The teenager will answer for his actions before a family court.
