– Funding a standard for the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment will be a special moral distinction and an expression of the trust and respect shown to soldiers by their superiors, society, and the provincial and local authorities of the region in which we serve – says Col. Paweł ŚwitalskiPaweł Świtalski, commander of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment.

Minister Antoni Macierewicz approved funding a new standard. The head of the Social Standard Foundation Committee is Bolesławiec mayor Piotr Roman. The Committee also includes:

  • Rafał Gronicz, mayor of the City of Zgorzelec
  • retired Col. Jan Biały, the first commander of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Brigade
  • Stanisław Małek, president of the Management Board of the “Nowy Ląd” Gypsum and Anhydrite Mine
  • Col. SG Marek Woszczatyński, commander of the Border Guard Specialist Training Centre in Lubań
  • retired senior warrant officer Bogdan Fiałkowski, vice-president of the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special “Commando” Company
  • Laura Słocka-Przydróżna, headmistress of the Henryk Sucharski Comprehensive and Vocational School Complex in Bolesławiec
  • Jan Czyczerski, director of the Economic and Technical School Complex of the Lwówek Region in Rakowice Wielkie
  • Szymon Karolak, director of the Vocational and Secondary School Complex for the Miners and Energy Workers of the Turów Mine in Zgorzelec.

The fundraising campaign for producing the standard began at the start of February. Donors to date:

  • Municipal Communal Services Company in Bolesławiec – PLN 1,000
  • Social Housing Association in Bolesławiec – PLN 1,000
  • Guild of Various Crafts and Small Business in Bolesławiec – PLN 1,000
  • Heat Energy Company in Bolesławiec – PLN 200.

The artillerymen ask for donations for this purpose. All sponsors will be entered in the commemorative book, and plaques bearing their names will be placed in the Tradition Hall of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment. Payments may be made until the end of September 2017 to the following account:
