The road accident occurred on a relatively quiet road. A man traveling in a Golf with his wife lost control of the vehicle and hit a roadside streetlamp. The accident happened in front of passersby. Instead of securing the scene, notifying the emergency services and providing first aid, they began recording everything on their mobile phones. It was only police officers who noticed the accident while patrolling the city who began the rescue operation, which was continued by firefighters and the ambulance service. Unfortunately, the first precious seconds and minutes were lost. The young married couple did not survive. We already know that they left behind a six-year-old girl.

Fortunately, this is the scenario of a public-service announcement for a preventive campaign by the District Police Headquarters in Lubin—but is it really so far removed from reality? How often do we forget to call in such a situation? Do we think that someone else has already called?

“We hope that after watching our film, many people will consider what is more important: saving a human life or having a recording from the very first seconds?” say the officers from Lubin. They add: “The first seconds are extremely important. But not for recording—for saving a human life.”
