In the new duty uniform, police officers from patrol, intervention, patrol-and-intervention, and escort units will serve. Black duty uniforms have been in use since 1997. Over the years, even the type of fabrics has changed significantly; today, they ensure greater durability and comfort. The changes being introduced therefore stem from the need to adapt this clothing to current service requirements and the expectations of police officers. They are also connected with the creation of a new position—the senior district officer. Everything will be made of durable and breathable material.

The replacement of uniforms will take place gradually. Officers will be able to use both types of uniforms until the end of 2021.

The draft regulation introduces a number of other solutions related to wearing uniforms. Under the new regulations, police officers who are in a service vehicle will not have to wear service caps. Press officers will also be exempt from the obligation to wear headgear while appearing in the media. In some cases, it will be possible to combine elements of the service uniform with the dress uniform. All the changes are intended to make it easier for officers to perform their official duties and improve their image.
