On June 6, a ceremony presenting awards in environmental competitions took place at the “Orzeł” Cultural Integration Center in Bolesławiec: “In the Bóbr River Valley,” an art competition for preschoolers; “The Forest Closer to Us,” a forest knowledge competition for second-grade primary school pupils; and “There Is Also a Way with Batteries – 2017,” a competition for preschools, primary schools and lower-secondary schools.

In the “There Is Also a Way with Batteries” competition, 11 preschool groups and 44 classes, 1,714 people in total, collected 3,740 kg of used batteries, which were sent for recycling through Miejski Zakład Gospodarki Komunalnej Sp. z o.o. in Bolesławiec.

In the “preschools” category, first place went to Group III from Miejskie Przedszkole Publiczne nr 5. Teachers: Teresa Kulik and Beata Gąsieniec. Second place went to Group III from Miejskie Przedszkole Publiczne nr 7. Teachers: Lidia Bazal and Marta Herdzik. Third place went to Piotruś Pan Group from the non-public Nibylandia Preschool. Teacher: Sylwia Menegoni-Kirylczuk.

In the “primary and lower-secondary schools” category, first place went to Class IVc (Primary School No. 4), teacher: Jolanta Rzeźwicka. Second place went to Class II d (Primary School No. 4), teacher: Teresa Pawlik. Third place went to Class III a (Primary School No. 5), teacher: Dorota Stanałowska.

In the “preschools” category, the winners of first, second and third place will take part in a trip. In the “primary and lower-secondary schools” category, the winners of first and second place will take part in a trip, while the winners of third place will receive cinema tickets. The preschool groups and classes that won a trip may choose one of the following destinations: Wrocław Zoo, Humanitarium, Hydropolis or the Kepler Science Center in Zielona Góra. The prizes in this year’s edition of the competition are co-financed by Wojewódzki Fundusz Ochrony Środowiska i Gospodarki Wodnej we Wrocławiu, Gmina Miejska Bolesławiec, Miejski Zakład Gospodarki Komunalnej Sp. z o.o. and Miejski Zakład Gospodarki Mieszkaniowej.

The “The Forest Closer to Us” competition summarized forest education workshops held in cooperation with Nadleśnictwo Bolesławiec at the forestry nursery in Osieczów. Second-grade pupils from Bolesławiec primary schools took part in the workshops. In the forest knowledge competition, first place went to Julia Błaszczyszyn (Primary School No. 4), second place went to Wiktor Boratyński (Primary School No. 2), and third place went to Kacper Zefirian (Primary School No. 1). Fourth place went to: Katarzyna Kowalczyk (Primary School No. 1), Miłosz Wojtowicz (Primary School No. 3), and Zofia Anioł (Primary School No. 2). Fifth place went to Joanna Mysiak (Primary School No. 4) and Lena Zawrotniak (Primary School No. 4).

The “In the Bóbr River Valley” art competition was intended for children attending Bolesławiec preschools. Participants were required to independently create an A4-size artwork using any technique. First place went to Milena Tarnawska (MPP No. 4), second place went to Marika Zabawa (MPP No. 7), and third place went to Oliwia Lange (MPP No. 2).
