Legnica police officers had been investigating online fraud for some time. The evidence they gathered led them to a 59-year-old resident of Głogów. When the officers entered his apartment, he was completely surprised. At the premises, the officers found information technology equipment, documentation indicating criminal activity, and payment cards.

As the police determined, for several months the 59-year-old had been listing motor vehicles, excavators and agricultural tractors on online auction sites. Anyone who wanted to buy them first had to pay a deposit into an account provided by the fraudster. The man from Głogów would then cut off contact with the buyer.

There are more than 30 victims from across Poland. The total value of the losses was estimated at PLN 230,000. The investigation is ongoing, and the police do not rule out further arrests.

The 59-year-old was placed in police custody. He faces up to eight years in prison.
