A representative of Lwówek Śląski and Tytan Team, Staff Corporal Zbigniew Boczar, a soldier of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec, won a silver medal at the 14th Open Championships of Ząbkowice Śląskie. “It was my second appearance in Ząbkowice Śląskie, and both the weight category and the podium finish were higher than last year,” the athlete says. “Together with my sons, Fabian and Brajan, my youngest and most devoted fans, for whom I try to perform as well as possible, I took second place on the podium, just behind the organizer supported by the authorities of Ząbkowice Śląskie. With my wife’s support and my sons’ encouragement, May began well in the up-to-90 kg category.

He adds: “Spending free time actively is one of the best ways to inspire interest in sport and physical recreation among the youngest.”

How the 2016/2017 season will end for our artilleryman depends on the most important event: on 13 May in Łódź, during Poland’s largest competition—the International Bench Press League, consisting of three rounds. After two rounds, Zbigniew Boczar is third in the up-to-83 kg category and 30th among more than one hundred of Poland’s best athletes.

As the weightlifter himself points out, travelling to competitions involves not only transport and entry-fee costs, but also accommodation. Therefore, anyone interested in advertising their company and providing financial support to an athlete from Lwówek Śląski—in any amount, even the smallest—is asked to contact Zbigniew Boczar. Through the editorial office or Facebook.
