Representatives of the Jewish community, city authorities—including Deputy Mayor Dorota Purgal—and local residents attended the ceremony. Each wore a yellow daffodil pinned to their clothing to commemorate the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising was the first major urban uprising in occupied Europe. It was an act of despair, a tragic call for a dignified death from people condemned to inevitable annihilation, as it had not the slightest chance of success.
