The Ilyo Bolesławiec Students’ Sports Club successfully concluded the season. On Saturday, 25 October, Krzysztof Jasiński, the current Polish Junior Champion, confirmed his class by taking first place in the Challenger Tournament in Ciechanów. Krzysztof will represent Poland at the European Championships, which will be held in May 2009 in Trelleborg (Sweden).
Meanwhile, at the Inter-Voivodeship Junior Championships held on 26 October in Opole, UKS Ilyo athletes won a total of seven medals (three gold, two silver and two bronze). A tournament testing athletes from the regional junior and younger junior squads was also held that day. Bolesławiec athletes Adam Filipek and Kamil Serafin triumphed in the competition.
In the 2008 season, the club won three medals at the Polish Championships, including two golds. “This year we are already beginning preparations for the 10th, jubilee season of our club. This season was one of the most important for us, primarily because we organized such a large national event as the finals of the 14th National Youth Olympics in Olympic Taekwondo (WTF),” says Bolesław Dolecki, president of UKS Ilyo. – “Our athlete’s promotion to the national squad is a tremendous source of satisfaction. In the National System of Sports Competition for Children and Youth, we earned 50 points. In our discipline, we are the best club in Lower Silesia.”
“We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the smooth organization of the Olympic Taekwondo finals as part of the 14th National Youth Olympics in Bolesławiec, as well as those who supported and assisted us during the 2008 season. We would also like to thank the Istotne Informacje editorial team for its effective media patronage of the finals of the now historic 14th National Youth Olympics,” adds Mariusz Sulma, UKS Ilyo coach.
